Dangote Cement Plc has commissioned a 2.5 million
metric tonnes per annual (mmtpa) cement plant worth N94.5 billion ($480
million) in Ethiopia as the company is set to invest N3.15 trillion ($16
billion) between 2015 and 2018 in its new and existing cement plants in
furtherance of its expansion plan in Africa.
President/chief executive officer
of the Dangote group, Aliko Dangote made this known at the commissioning
ceremony of the Dangote Cement Plant in Mugher District, Ethiopia, yesterday. He
said that Dangote Cement is setting up new cement plants and terminals across
16 African countries, including Ethiopia, saying, “This is in line with our
long term vision to become one of the world’s biggest cement producers.”
